11 Best Brand24 Alternatives in 2026 for PR Teams

Eleven Brand24 alternatives compared on price, listening depth and AI visibility, ranked for PR teams and solo PRs.

11 Best Brand24 Alternatives in 2026 for PR Teams

Read this first, because it decides which half of the list you need

Brand24 is a good social listening tool. It monitors mentions across roughly 25 million sources including social, news, blogs, forums, reviews and podcasts, the AI sentiment analysis is genuinely useful for spotting trends, the Presence Score gives you one number to watch, and the alerts catch spikes fast. Its own research content is among the better material in this industry. None of that is in dispute.

This list is ranked for PR teams, and that changes the answer. If you're a social marketer who needs deeper or cheaper listening, skip to Awario, Mention, Brandwatch and Talkwalker, which are the genuine like-for-like replacements. Nothing else here competes with Brand24 at listening and I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

But most PR people I talk to aren't leaving Brand24 because the listening is bad. They're leaving because of three things: the mention caps are hard limits rather than overages, the price climbs steeply at the tier an agency actually needs, and the dashboard doesn't produce anything a client can read. That last one is usually the real problem, and it's a reporting problem wearing a listening tool's invoice.

So the list is ordered by that. Eleven tools, with what they cost.

The comparison table

Where Brand24 comes up short for PR work

Four specific things push PR teams off it.

The mention caps are hard limits, not overages. The entry plan includes 2,000 mentions a month with updates every 12 hours. Go viral or run three clients and you miss data rather than getting a bill.

The price climbs at exactly the tier you need. Real-time updates and the fuller AI suite start higher up the stack, and agencies juggling several clients tend to land around the $399 to $599 a month range on annual billing. That's real money for a monitoring feed.

No client-ready reporting. It exports dashboards and mention PDFs. It won't build a branded report carrying domain authority, estimated views and per-placement AI scores.

The AI visibility module sits on Enterprise. Brand24 does track whether a brand appears in AI outputs, and that capability lives on the Enterprise tier from around $1,499 a month billed annually. It also reports appearances at brand level rather than tying them back to the specific articles you placed, so you get a signal rather than attribution.

That fourth point is the one worth sitting with. If AI visibility is why you're shopping, you're looking at a tenfold price jump for a measurement that still won't tell you which of your placements did the work.

The 11 best Brand24 alternatives in 2026

1. PRCoverage

Best for: PR teams whose Brand24 bill is buying mention volume they don't use and reporting they don't get.

What it does is the half Brand24 was never built for. You import coverage by CSV or pasted links, and it screenshots each outlet, scores it, and runs topic-relevant prompts through ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude to see whether the article actually surfaces in AI answers. Every piece gets a rating: Top, Medium, Low, or Not Yet Indexed, and you can expand any item to see the exact prompts it ranks for. That's per-placement attribution rather than a brand-level signal, and it's the gap in Brand24's AI module.

Alongside it, Rankings, Share of Media and Sources show where your brand lands against competitors on a schedule you set. The filter that matters is earned media only: switch it on and you see which of your placements move the rankings and which outlets are lifting competitors instead, which turns a pitch list into data. Reports render as branded decks with domain authority, estimated views and highlight pages.

The reason it's first on a list ranked for PR teams is the arithmetic. If what you actually need is client proof and AI attribution, you're paying $399 to $1,499 a month at Brand24 for a feature set aimed at somebody else's job. The PRCoverage vs Brand24 comparison runs those numbers side by side.

Pricing. Pro at $50 a month for unlimited reports, Premium at $100 with the AI suite. Fifteen-day trial, no credit card. Actionable Insights, the recommendations layer, is on the roadmap and not live yet.

2. Awario

Best for: teams who genuinely need listening and want it cheaply.

Monitors social, web, news and Reddit with Boolean queries and real-time alerts at $49 a month, which is the lowest entry price here. The ecosystem is smaller than Brand24's and it won't win on enterprise depth, but for a solo pro or a lean agency that needs listening without the sticker, it's the straight value swap.

If listening is your actual requirement, this is your like-for-like replacement, not PRCoverage.

3. Mention

Best for: teams needing real-time depth and a long history window.

Real-time monitoring, up to two years of historical data, competitor and campaign tracking, and clean reporting templates. It moved upmarket in 2026: the older self-serve plans are legacy, publishing and engagement features were retired, and pricing is now quote-led, so expect a sales conversation rather than a checkout. It used to be the budget answer to Brand24 and isn't any more.

4. Brandwatch

Best for: enterprise research teams with an analyst on staff.

One of the deepest historical archives in the category, with AI that lets analysts query the data in plain language. If you need to compare a 2018 crisis to a 2026 one, it can do that. It's also priced and built for organisations with dedicated analytics people: custom quotes, long onboarding, a real learning curve. For an account manager trying to get a report out by Friday, it's the wrong shape at the wrong price.

Pricing. Enterprise, quote-based.

5. Lumen by Talkwalker

Best for: consumer intelligence with visual listening attached.

Its distinguishing feature is spotting your logo in images and video rather than just your name in text, and the audience insights run deep. Hootsuite acquired Talkwalker in 2024 and it now operates as Lumen by Talkwalker, so enterprise teams can get the listening inside the Hootsuite stack.

Pricing. Custom, enterprise-shaped. A research-budget pick rather than a boutique one.

6. Muck Rack

Best for: teams where journalist relationships are the centre of the work.

The journalist database most PR teams envy, with monitoring and coverage reporting built around it. Generative Pulse tracks visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude, though it sits in the Premier tier rather than shipping with every plan, and public reviews consistently note the coverage reports don't customize as far as agencies want.

Pricing. Muck Rack is quote-based, annual only, no free trial, and a different order of magnitude from Brand24. Entry contracts are widely reported near $5,000 a year, the mid tier runs $10,000 to $15,000, and ours is above $10,000. Worth knowing before the demo call.

7. Prowly

Best for: outreach and coverage management in one place.

A media database, email pitching with read tracking, press release distribution and straightforward reporting. Listening is secondary and you won't get Brand24-style social analytics from it.

Know what you're buying into. Prowly now runs as the Semrush AI PR Toolkit, and Adobe completed its acquisition of Semrush on April 28, 2026, so this and the Semrush entry below are the same house. Standalone plans are retired and no PR-specific roadmap has been published.

Pricing. Published tiers recently sat around $149, $279 and $499 a month on annual billing with a short trial, though at least one current listing shows it as quote-only. Confirm before you plan around it.

8. Agility PR

Best for: SMB teams wanting monitoring and a media database without enterprise bloat.

Media monitoring, a journalist database, and the PR CoPilot assistant for drafting and summarising. Visibility Intelligence, added in April 2026, covers how AI platforms represent a brand, share of voice and influential sources. The social listening is shallower than the dedicated listening tools.

Pricing. Quote-based, no public list. Assessed from documentation rather than daily use.

9. Critical Mention

Best for: broadcast and online monitoring together.

Tracks TV, radio and web coverage with instant alerts carrying video clips, which makes it a favourite for crisis comms and for clients who care about being on air. Owned by Onclusive since 2022, so evaluating both means evaluating one company. If social listening is the main job this isn't it; if broadcast matters, it's the specialist.

Pricing. Quote-based.

10. TVEyes

Best for: the deepest broadcast search available.

Indexes TV channels, radio stations and podcasts, searchable, with alerts and clipping. If a meaningful share of your client's coverage happens on air, nothing else here is close. Broadcast only, so it pairs with an online monitoring tool rather than replacing one.

Pricing. Custom, free trial available.

11. Semrush

Best for: teams already living in an SEO workflow.

Brand monitoring and visibility features inside a suite you may already pay for, with traffic data on earned media that the PR tools don't have. It sells a separate AI Visibility Toolkit too. It isn't a PR reporting platform: no client-ready decks, no journalist database, no per-placement AI attribution. The right pick when monitoring is a subset of a bigger SEO job. Now Adobe-owned, as above.

Pricing. Pro from around $140 a month.

How to pick

Name the job first. Listening, reporting, outreach, or AI visibility. Tools that do one well beat tools that do four badly, and the most common mistake I see is buying a listening tool to solve a reporting problem and then resenting the invoice.

Run the maths on mention volume. Brand24's caps are hard limits, so price whatever you pick on the tier you'll actually need rather than the one you'd like.

Ask whether it can produce proof. A dashboard export isn't a client report. If the answer to "can it hand me a branded deck with domain authority, estimated views and per-placement AI scores" is "you can export a CSV," keep looking.

Keep your prompt set fixed between runs. Whichever AI visibility tool you end up with, trends only mean anything when the questions don't change. Changing prompts between months produces movement that looks like progress and isn't.

Test on your own coverage. Take a trial, paste in last campaign's links, and look at what comes back.

FAQ

Is Brand24 worth it in 2026? For social listening, yes. AI sentiment, Presence Score and alerts are all solid. The entry plan is tight at three keywords, 2,000 mentions and 12-hour updates, and the tiers agencies need cost considerably more. If your requirement is proving PR impact rather than tracking conversation, it's doing half the job.

What's the cheapest Brand24 alternative? Awario at $49 a month is the lowest-priced listening tool here. PRCoverage is $50 but buys something different, so it isn't a like-for-like comparison.

What's the best Brand24 alternative for social listening specifically? Awario on a budget, Mention for real-time depth, Brandwatch or Lumen by Talkwalker at enterprise scale. PRCoverage doesn't compete in this category and doesn't claim to.

What's the best Brand24 alternative for PR agencies? Depends on the gap. For client reports with per-placement AI ratings, PRCoverage. For journalist relationships, Muck Rack. For broadcast, Critical Mention or TVEyes. Plenty of agencies run a listening tool and a reporting tool side by side rather than choosing.

Does Brand24 track AI answers? It does, on the Enterprise tier from around $1,499 a month billed annually. What it reports is whether the brand appears, not which of your specific articles is being cited, so you get a signal rather than attribution.

Can I switch from Brand24 to PRCoverage? You can add it; you probably can't swap it. If you rely on real-time alerting and sentiment, keep a listening tool. If what you needed from Brand24 was the report at the end of the month, add a client, upload a CSV or paste your coverage links, and the report and AI analysis build in a few minutes.

The bottom line

Brand24 is a capable listening tool that got expensive at the tiers agencies actually use. If listening is what you need, the honest recommendations here are Awario, Mention, Brandwatch or Lumen by Talkwalker, depending on your budget and depth.

If you've been paying for listening and what you actually wanted was proof, that's a different purchase, and it's the cheaper one. Run your last month of placements through a trial and see what the report looks like before you renew anything.
